Package: lynx-cur Version: 2.8.9dev1-2+deb8u1 Severity: normal Under some circumstances, whose envelope I have not fully determined, there is a visual glitch when highlighting instances of text searched for in a displayed web page.
When searching for a given search string in a given page, and looking at a particular instance of the string, whether the glitch occurs is totally deterministic. When searching in page source for a string that begins with a dot character, the glitch almost always manifests, but not absolutely always. I have also seen the glitch, but less frequently, when performing other searches in page source. I have never seen the glitch when searching a rendered page. The nature of the glitch is that the highlighted instance of the string is offset one column to the left of its proper position. The surrounding unhighlighted text remains in its proper position. As a result, the character immediately preceding the search string is absent from the display (overwritten by the out-of-place first highlighted character), and the last character of the search string is duplicated (one out-of-place highlighted instance followed immediately by one in-place unhighlighted instance). Obviously this is quite an inconvenience when one wants to c&p some text including the search string. -zefram
