I don't know if it is exactly the same issue, but i have the same problem but only when using gs-esp (currently 8.15.1.dfsg.1-1, but the issue was present in older versions too) for the conversion, AND the presence of images in the ps file. It works fine when using gs-gpl (8.15-4.1) or a postscript file without images.
If Ron can acknowledge this is also true for him, this bug may be reassigned to gs-esp.
