No worries and no hurry. I mainly packaged the new release to have a practical task to do while looking closer at kbd, etc. I've recently been looking into this area which is new to me in the debian base system, reading up on how the X keymaps and console keymaps integrate in Debian and how they handled the same thing (which was first/recently introduced after systemd migration) in Fedora (where the main difference seems to be that they rejected the idea of regenerating the keymaps at runtime, instead they converted everything at package build time). If you're looking for extra help with the package I'm interested in getting further involved.... having native systemd units which masks the rcS init scripts and other updates related to systemd is something I'd happily look at and help out with.
