Change /etc/default/docker as Eric Cooper indicated: DOCKER_OPTS="--storage-driver overlay" With that, the docker service does start. And since AUFS is 'history' it makes sense to not use it. Anyway, an error in post-install as I reported and even expected as all testing/sid users should have a 4.0+ kernel is just wrong and afaic RC.
