Bug#246317: esound: Programs that use sound "locked" by esd

I have noticed the same problem with esd using ALSA -- at GNOME startup 
various applications managed to hang while accessing esd, and killing 
esd allowed them to continue. I have downloaded current (01/03/2005) esd 
source from CVS and compiled it -- the problem disappeared.
