Among others, it happens in Kate (but it is not KDE-specific, it happens in pure Qt applications too, I just can't think of one off the top of my head that everyone is likely to have installed).
Press Ctrl-N, receive a popup instead of a new file: (title) Ambiguous Shortcut Detected — Kate The key sequence 'Ctrl+N' is ambiguous. Use 'Configure Shortcuts' from the 'Settings' menu to solve the ambiguity. No action will be triggered. Go to Settings -> Configure shortcuts, search for "new" Set alternate shortcut to "custom - None".
