Package: nsd Version: 4.1.0-3 Severity: normal Hi!
failing `service nsd start` or similar unfortunately does not provide any user feedback due to use of type=simple in the systemd service. Switching to type=forking and omitting the -d at least would have catched the [2015-10-31 22:13:13.741] nsd[5900]: error: can't bind udp socket: Cannot assign requested address [2015-10-31 22:13:13.743] nsd[5900]: error: server initialization failed, nsd could not be started here and provided proper feedback. Of course, implementing type=notify would also be fine Thanks Christoph -- System Information: Debian Release: 8.2 APT prefers stable APT policy: (990, 'stable'), (500, 'oldstable') Architecture: mipsel (mips64) Kernel: Linux 3.16.0-4-loongson-2f Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) Versions of packages nsd depends on: ii adduser 3.113+nmu3 ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.5.56 ii init-system-helpers 1.22 ii libc6 2.19-18+deb8u1 ii libevent-2.0-5 2.0.21-stable-2 ii libssl1.0.0 1.0.1k-3+deb8u1 ii lsb-base 4.1+Debian13+nmu1 nsd recommends no packages. nsd suggests no packages. -- Configuration Files: /etc/nsd/nsd.conf changed [not included] -- debconf information: * nsd3/old_confdir_exists:
