GTK+'s open file dialog shows any file named .emacs.desktop as "No Name" (or its localized equivalent). To reproduce: $ touch .emacs.desktop $ eog Go to "Open" and set the extension filter to "All Files." You'll see an entry for "No Name." This is probably the weirdest bug I've come across lately. Even in my home directory, where I have more than a hundred "hidden" files, .emacs.desktop is the only one that triggers this bug. Note that it's not the only file with two dots in that directory (just thought it could matter).
