Package: gnome-settings-daemon Version: 3.18.1-1+b1 Severity: important Dear Maintainer,
On my system, the instance of gnome-settings-daemon started for the login session uses more and more memory as time goes by (even though there's no activity on the login session). Currently, after two days, it's using 5.5GB; the daemons in the user sessions are up to 644MB and 22.6MB respectively: $ ps aux | grep gnome-settings-daemon steve 446 0.6 0.1 298504 58248 pts/0 S+ 23:43 0:00 /usr/bin/python /usr/bin/reportbug gnome-settings-daemon steve 639 0.0 0.0 12660 1700 pts/3 S+ 23:45 0:00 grep gnome-settings-daemon Debian-+ 7973 0.0 17.6 7096444 5783748 tty7 Sl+ Oct24 3:02 /usr/lib/gnome-settings-daemon/gnome-settings-daemon steve 8183 0.0 2.0 1643220 659780 tty8 Sl+ Oct24 1:45 /usr/lib/gnome-settings-daemon/gnome-settings-daemon steve 8263 0.0 0.0 484552 5732 tty8 Sl+ Oct24 0:00 /usr/lib/gnome-settings-daemon/gsd-printer helena 29019 0.0 0.0 1204124 23164 tty9 Sl+ Oct24 0:10 /usr/lib/gnome-settings-daemon/gnome-settings-daemon helena 29146 0.0 0.0 484704 5592 tty9 Sl+ Oct24 0:00 /usr/lib/gnome-settings-daemon/gsd-printer Before I restarted gdm3 g-s-d was using nearly 30GB (on a system with 32GB of RAM). At that point the system was pretty much unusable. Please let me know what I can usefully do to help resolve this (short of running valgrind...).
