Since upgrading to jessie, wammu is no longer able to create (ie,
send) a text message.
To reproduce, I do this:
* run wammu from an xterm
* use the mouse to select "create / message" from the menu
The traceback isn't cut-and-pasteable (!) but if I say "OK" and repeat
the UI action it prints a very similar-looking traceback to its
controlling terminal:

Most other functions that I use seem to work (notably, "retrieve /
messages" and "retrieve / contacts (all)"). Trying to create a text
message via "retrieve / contacts (all)" and then selecting a contact
with the right click and asking for "send message" fails in the same
way as above.
I reran the phone setup wizard but it didn't seem to make any
difference.
`gammu sendsms' works (eg, gammu sendsms TEXT 0799**** -text 'eek').
