Package: apt-cacher-ng
Version: 0.8.6-1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

If you do the following:

 - install apt-cacher-ng

 - purge apt-cacher-ng

 - do some more purging of unrelated packages (to free up some uids)

 - reinstall apt-cacher-ng

then you can get into trouble.

The reason is that removing apt-cacher-ng deletes the user for the
daemon, but does not delete the log directory. When you reinstall the
package, the user will be recreated (possibly with a new uid) but the
log directory will be left as-is because it already exists, with the old
uid. This uid mismatch prevents the daemon from writing to the log
directory which prevents it from starting, thus failing the postinst.
