I have the following system: Intel 3.2 GHz 1 GB RAM one 160 GB SATA HD one 200 GB SATA HD Onboard NIC USB mouse USB keyboard (no interface for PS/2 keyboard) I tried booting the etch netinstall CD. All went fine until i had to choose the language. I can't choose a language, because the keyboard is not reacting. For example the numlock led is not burning. Now i made a reboot and started at the bootpromt with install24. The keyboard is now reacting normal. I can also choose a language. But i have a problem whit setting up my onboard network card with DHCP and in the expert mode i have also problems identificatig the SATA HD with the 2.4 kernel. By the way, i downloaded the newest knoppix version with the 2.6 Kernel. The HW identification works here fine. (USB-keyboard OK, Networkinterface with DHCP OK, SATA HD OK). So i think there should be a way installing Debian (etch) with the 2.6 Kernel. Is there at bootpromt an option for activating a usb keyboard? With the Sarge netinstall i have the same problems. Kind regards.
