Package: pidgin Version: 2.10.11-1.1 Followup-For: Bug #793152 I had a similar problem with Pidgin hanging. The output in the terminal showed:
libdc1394 error: Failed to create juju
I have apparmor enabled. When I set the profile to complain mode, pidgin
started successfully.
I added the following to /etc/apparmor.d/local/usr.bin.pidgin and set
the profile to enforced mode:
owner @{HOME}/.cache/gstreamer*/ rw,
owner @{HOME}/.cache/gstreamer*/** rw,
owner @{HOME}/.config/qtcurve/gtk-icons rw,
owner @{HOME}/.config/qtcurve/gtk-icons/** rw,
owner @{HOME}/.config/gtkrc-2.0 r,
/usr/share/kde4/config/kdeglobals r,
/usr/local/share/mime/** r,
Pidgin is working with these changes. The gstreamer lines are the important
ones, without them Pidgin refuses to start. The other lines were added to
prevent log spam.
