Hello ! First, thanks for the quick reply
now onto the main topic: ==================================================================================== i did a lspci -knn from a LinuxMint 17.2 Live 00:00.0 Host bridge [0600]: Intel Corporation 3rd Gen Core processor DRAM Controller [8086:0154] (rev 09) Subsystem: Lenovo Device [17aa:5002] Kernel driver in use: ivb_uncore 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Intel Corporation 3rd Gen Core processor Graphics Controller [8086:0166] (rev 09) Subsystem: Lenovo Device [17aa:5002] Kernel driver in use: i915 00:14.0 USB controller [0c03]: Intel Corporation 7 Series/C210 Series Chipset Family USB xHCI Host Controller [8086:1e31] (rev 04) Subsystem: Lenovo Device [17aa:5002] Kernel driver in use: xhci_hcd 00:16.0 Communication controller [0780]: Intel Corporation 7 Series/C210 Series Chipset Family MEI Controller #1 [8086:1e3a] (rev 04) Subsystem: Lenovo Device [17aa:5002] Kernel driver in use: mei_me 00:1a.0 USB controller [0c03]: Intel Corporation 7 Series/C210 Series Chipset Family USB Enhanced Host Controller #2 [8086:1e2d] (rev 04) Subsystem: Lenovo Device [17aa:5002] Kernel driver in use: ehci-pci 00:1b.0 Audio device [0403]: Intel Corporation 7 Series/C210 Series Chipset Family High Definition Audio Controller [8086:1e20] (rev 04) Subsystem: Lenovo Device [17aa:5002] Kernel driver in use: snd_hda_intel 00:1c.0 PCI bridge [0604]: Intel Corporation 7 Series/C210 Series Chipset Family PCI Express Root Port 1 [8086:1e10] (rev c4) Kernel driver in use: pcieport 00:1c.1 PCI bridge [0604]: Intel Corporation 7 Series/C210 Series Chipset Family PCI Express Root Port 2 [8086:1e12] (rev c4) Kernel driver in use: pcieport 00:1c.3 PCI bridge [0604]: Intel Corporation 7 Series/C210 Series Chipset Family PCI Express Root Port 4 [8086:1e16] (rev c4) Kernel driver in use: pcieport 00:1d.0 USB controller [0c03]: Intel Corporation 7 Series/C210 Series Chipset Family USB Enhanced Host Controller #1 [8086:1e26] (rev 04) Subsystem: Lenovo Device [17aa:5002] Kernel driver in use: ehci-pci 00:1f.0 ISA bridge [0601]: Intel Corporation HM77 Express Chipset LPC Controller [8086:1e57] (rev 04) Subsystem: Lenovo Device [17aa:5002] Kernel driver in use: lpc_ich 00:1f.2 SATA controller [0106]: Intel Corporation 7 Series Chipset Family 6-port SATA Controller [AHCI mode] [8086:1e03] (rev 04) Subsystem: Lenovo Device [17aa:5002] Kernel driver in use: ahci 00:1f.3 SMBus [0c05]: Intel Corporation 7 Series/C210 Series Chipset Family SMBus Controller [8086:1e22] (rev 04) Subsystem: Lenovo Device [17aa:5002] 02:00.0 Network controller [0280]: Broadcom Corporation BCM43228 802.11a/b/g/n [14e4:4359] Subsystem: Broadcom Corporation Device [14e4:0607] Kernel driver in use: wl 03:00.0 Ethernet controller [0200]: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. Another good answer would be: "Hey, I just following documentation >from URL" >Just provide more information about 'LiLiUSB Creator' http://www.linuxliveusb.com/fr/home it's a tool to put live and/or installation iso onto an usb stick it asks for ISO or CD or it can download for you (i've only ever tried the ISO method) all i can really tell is that i've used it a few times with other OS without issues (such as the Mint i used to do the lspci -knn) ========================================================================= >On the URL with debian-cd/current-live/amd64/bt-hybrid/debian-live in it. >How did you found that? What did you bring there? I used the french version of the site so i'll try to explain/translate how it went Starting from: https://www.debian.org/index.fr.html Top menu to go to (Obtain Debian) -> https://www.debian.org/distrib/ Option on the right (try autonomous before installing) -> https://www.debian.org/CD/live/ Middle of the page, on the left (CD,DVD,USB with bittorent) -> http://cdimage.debian.org/debian-cd/current-live/amd64/bt-hybrid/ ========================================================================== >And now some compliments. Yes, I assume you can handle compliments :-) >It is good that you are curious about "Debian". >Very nice to see that what you allready did (downloading, preparing USBstick) >Best thing is you took the effort to create this installation report. I've been learning about UNIX while i was learning networking and (basic) administration Wanted to be more confortable with those systems so i wanted to hgave one at home, and when i asked what distro i should choose, Debian came up as "the original" I also considered Ubuntu but honestly i hate UNITY and GNOME (also, Windows 10 kinda helped me to finally say goodbye to M$ (tho i still keep W7 around)) >I do hope that you presist in getting Debian installed on your Lenovo B590. Of course :) Also some separate notes as to why i chose the live cd version for deb: i have really crappy internet, so the netinst didn't feel like a good choice, and the full version is on multiple DVD so it's pretty heavy PS: i tried to run the live lxde debian for the lspci -knn but it asked for credentials on login, the only ones i found googling were user // live but they didn't work for me (i don't really see the point of password protecting a live cd since everyone would have the same credentials, but there's probably some technical reasons outside my scope) Have a good day, Gersho.
