When thunderbird was removed and icedove installed "send to" > was stayed but is not supported by Icedove indeed. this sounds like a problem with the MATE desktop environment. It works with Gnome3 as long as I use Gnome3. Due this I assign this report to the mate-desktop package. If it turns out the real problem is something Icedove related please assign back.
