I was curious to see how the music was provided in the Steam package. No I see that the Steam version doesn't provide any music at all; and that the music I was hearing was repacked from quake-music_37_all.deb itself ripped from the CD. There are archives with .ogg files floating around; can this be considered semi-official ? http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=119489135
