Still don't understand, in which I am right? Don't get me wrong, I love being right :-) , but it was a yes/no question, not an opinion or assertion. I want to know the exact commands were issued and which worked and which don't, because if "purge && install" actually don't get to complain but "upgrade" never works, it's a very nice clue to try to see what's done different in the code paths of upgrades vs fresh ("fresh") installs. If all actions fail, either they use the same code path for that part of selecting packages/versions to upgrade, or both code paths are wrong. (Yes, I know that I could try to reproduce the situation locally; but still I only have one system available to test this, still entangled with gcc-5 and KDE transitions; and I can only juggle so many things at once -- I am already trying to address several problems/bugs in aptitude simultaneously. So if the problem is not reproduced accurately now, and cannot attend the bug until it's too late --maybe the situation is solved by changes in package deps--, valuable information is lost). Cheers. -- Manuel A. Fernandez Montecelo <manuel.montez...@gmail.com>
