i have come across of several default gnome applications for example gedit, gnome-photos, gnome-music etc which are dependent to gnome metapackage. By deleting any of them gnome desktop is becoming buggy because a lot of libraries are removed. I have search a lot and i saw that this problem exists from 2009. I don't see any reason why should a simple removal of a text editor would ruin an installation.
