I do not really run this command but when doing
gbp buildpackage
git-buildpackage cares for a clean repository - otherwise you would get
an error. I never run automake manually - just building the package.

May be the package pool was not up to date at the time when I was
trying. Now it worked and I uploaded.

The gcc transition has a lot of intermediate effects that might be cured
now. At least the problem vanished. By the way I'm *always* building
in a sid chroot by using cowbuilder (pbuilder).
