Hi Csányi,

2009-02-27 18:11 Csányi Pál:
Package: aptitude
Version: 0.4.4-4
Followup-For: Bug #516823

Here:
http://debian.org/releases/lenny/i386/release-notes/ch-upgrading.en.html#backup

at 4.5.4. Upgrade apt and/or aptitude first

when I do

# apt-get install apt

I get these messages:
gpg: key 6070D3A1: "Debian Archive Automatic Signing Key (4.0/etch)
<ftpmas...@debian.org>"
not changed
gpg: key ADB11277: "Etch Stable Release Key <debian-rele...@lists.debian.org>"
not changed
gpg: key BBE55AB3: "Debian-Volatile Archive Automatic Signing Key (4.0/etch)"
not changed
gpg: key F42584E6: "Lenny Stable Release Key <debian-rele...@lists.debian.org>"
not changed
gpg: key 55BE302B: "Debian Archive Automatic Signing Key (5.0/lenny)
<ftpmas...@debian.org>"
not changed
gpg: key 6D849617: "Debian-Volatile Archive Automatic Signing Key (5.0/lenny)"
not changed
gpg: Total number processed: 6
gpg: unchanged: 6

and after that when I try to do

# aptitude install aptitude

I get this message:

Illegal instructionts... 98%

I did everything from abowe mentioned
"Chapter 4. Upgrades from previous releases"

and I just can't to upgrade from Etch to Lenny.

What to do to solve this problem?

I am wondering if the problem was that the compiler emitted instructions
that were not supported by your CPU (AMD K6), maybe some library or
aptitude itself (or the whole of Debian lenny packages) was compiled to
use the wrong CPU target.

I realise that it is quite late now... but were you able to sort out
this problem? I am not sure if we can do anything about this report now.

Cheers.
