Hi, I don't remember exactly from where I picked the change (I think it was from gdm), but indeed, there's definitely a mistake. /etc/default/locale should be only added, not replace completely the thing. As far as I can tell, other pam config file use something like: session required pam_env.so readenv=1 session required pam_env.so readenv=1 envfile=/etc/default/locale Can you check that it works for you and report back?
