 The same for me, also with XFCE and KDE. I suppose some telepathy 
stuff asked for it to dbus

 When I chmod a-rwx the file of abiword-common 
/usr/share/dbus-1/services/org.freedesktop.Telepathy.Client.AbiCollab.service

 the automatic launch disappear.
