Hi. PassiveTeX is a completely different toolchain than dblatex. The changed error message would not make sense then (IMHO). FWIW: (1) PassiveTex support has been removed in current docbook-xsl sources. So the next release will solve this issue anyway. (2) The extension is currently part of the xmltex package.
