The Linux kernel in jessie fails to build from source for the combination ARCH=s390, CONFIG_SMP=n, and CONFIG_DYNAMIC_DEBUG=y. Compilation of drivers/s390/char/sclp_early.c fails with a number of undefined symbols. The problem also exists in the stretch and sid kernels at the time of this writing.
