The terminal window quickly appears and disappears. I can see the Bash 2
tab is being made, but I can't quite make out if the Editing 1 tab is.
Nothing is output on stdout/err.

No, I get one window with 2 tabs as expected, and it stays put. Were you
using 3.1.4 above? It had a bugged --fork which would explain the
problem you're having now. 3.1.5 has been uploaded and should appear in
the repositories shortly.
