Well, that part was not done on purpose. :) Anyway, I agree the message is not very helpful, and I'm fixing this for dpkg 1.18.3, I'll also turn it into a warning. > It seems that spelled out (i.e., non-abbreviated) month names are not > anymore accepted. debian-policy does not allow such month names anyway, so you should really be fixing this in the packages themselves anyway.
