Control: retitle -1 util-linux: upstream tools not installed: zramctl
Control: tags -1 + wontfix

Hello!

Since 2.27~rc1-1 (available in experimental currently) the lslogins
utility is now shipped.

The setpriv utility already is discussed in a separate bug report, see
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=755885

I'm thus retitling this bug report to just talk about zramctl.

I've investigated the zramctl utility and it seems to only be useful
if the zram kernel module is loaded. This kernel module is stuck in
the staging area of the kernel and thus needs cleanup or it might
not even be part of future kernel releases. Furthermore it seems
the module is not enabled in Debian kernels. (I haven't even
found a wishlist report for enabling it, but I might just not
have looked hard enough.)

As the zramctl utility doesn't seem generally useful to the general
Debian userbase in combination with having to be very careful
for what you introduce in an essential package like those
built from src:util-linux as they have to be supported basically
for all eternity, I can't support shipping the zramctl utility
at this point. I'm thus tagging this bug as wontfix.

If my analysis of zramctl is flawed, please enlighten me (and
this bug report) about it.

Regards,
Andreas Henriksson
