+1 This seems to be explained in a detailed manner in the past[1] and also started a relevant discussion[2] on the upstream bug tracker.
Hannes, thanks for adding the patch here, hopefully the maintainers would like to include it on jessie. IMHO it is important to add it to let the end user decide if searching is the right action to do, especially on machines with slow disks, when the former method is easier for navigation.
