It would be a candidate for the transition, but doko noted that the ilmbase and openexr transitions should happen first. This way vips can be safely updated in library symbols wise. But it seems the newest ilmbase (v2.x) is Linux only ATM, even if it was built (1.x) on kFreeBSD-* and on Hurd before. Hope it will be solved soon.
