This probably works… but I’d either do something like:
mailname=$(hostname -f 2>/dev/null || hostname -A)
echo ${mailname%% *} >…/etc/mailname
Or, even better maybe, copy the /etc/mailname file from outside.
That being said, with USENETWORK=no, it shouldn’t even need one…
