Package: freedroidrpg Version: 0.15.1-1+b2 Severity: important Dear Maintainer,
before installing the package firmware-linux-nonfree the game freedroidRPG was running, but with slow graphics and slow reaction as my graphic card was not properly implemented - nonetheless it was playable. After installing firmware-linux-nonfree my graphics-card starts up at boot normally and seems to be properly working, but now the game stops the starting procedure after counting up to 100% and playing the first tone of sound with the following message:
$ freedroidRPG drmRadeonCmdBuffer: -22. Kernel failed to parse or rejected command stream. See dmesg for more info.
The Output of dmesg shows the following lines:
[ 279.953008] [drm:r100_cs_track_texture_check] *ERROR* Texture of unit 0 needs 273439296 bytes but is 3276800 [ 279.953018] [drm:r100_cs_track_texture_print] *ERROR* pitch 16536 [ 279.953021] [drm:r100_cs_track_texture_print] *ERROR* use_pitch 1 [ 279.953024] [drm:r100_cs_track_texture_print] *ERROR* width 16536 [ 279.953028] [drm:r100_cs_track_texture_print] *ERROR* width_11 2048 [ 279.953031] [drm:r100_cs_track_texture_print] *ERROR* height 16536 [ 279.953034] [drm:r100_cs_track_texture_print] *ERROR* height_11 2048 [ 279.953038] [drm:r100_cs_track_texture_print] *ERROR* num levels 0 [ 279.953041] [drm:r100_cs_track_texture_print] *ERROR* depth 0 [ 279.953044] [drm:r100_cs_track_texture_print] *ERROR* bpp 4 [ 279.953047] [drm:r100_cs_track_texture_print] *ERROR* coordinate type 0 [ 279.953051] [drm:r100_cs_track_texture_print] *ERROR* width round to power of 2 0 [ 279.953054] [drm:r100_cs_track_texture_print] *ERROR* height round to power of 2 0 [ 279.953057] [drm:r100_cs_track_texture_print] *ERROR* compress format 0 [ 279.953060] [drm:radeon_cs_ib_chunk] *ERROR* Invalid command stream !
This behaviour is reproduceable if I remove firmware-linux-nonfree, but this results again in the very long bootup with the following error messages (kern.log):
kernel: [ 44.283914] [drm] radeon: irq initialized. kernel: [ 44.283967] [drm] Loading R100 Microcode kernel: [ 44.288548] snd_intel8x0 0000:00:1f.5: intel8x0_measure_ac97_clock: measured 55676 usecs (2682 samples) kernel: [ 44.288561] snd_intel8x0 0000:00:1f.5: clocking to 48000 kernel: [ 44.290501] radeon 0000:01:00.0: firmware: failed to load radeon/R100_cp.bin (-2) kernel: [ 44.290554] radeon 0000:01:00.0: Direct firmware load failed with error -2 kernel: [ 44.290562] radeon 0000:01:00.0: Falling back to user helper
If the game can't cooperate with the graphic acceleration (I am not sure if this is the point) I would expect it to fall back in a mode, where this acceleration is not needed to stay playable (although slow). -- System Information: Computer-model: Thinkpad X32.
