control: tag -1 confirmed, help, upstream chrome://net-internals may be useful to figure more about what is going on, particularly chrome://net-internals/#sockets.
It will probably be a lot of work to figure out where in the code this is happening, and I don't have a lot of time right now for chromium, so I'm looking for help.
