I just did a build in a normal unstable chroot on arm64 and it built fine for me. The failure I saw was in a chroot with GCC 5 as default compiler; when I saw Edmund's bug, I assumed that the bug can also be seen with GCC 4.9 (i.e. regular unstable). Maybe Edmund can confirm whether he used a normal chroot and whether he still sees the bug.
