Can you please tell me the exact command line you are using?
"--dport" is not an option of chipcardd2 as shipped by Debian.

Chipcardd2 will, in the default configuration shipped by Debian,
generate output via the syslog facility, usually found in daemon.log.

Here is the deal: With decent, supported USB-card readers chipcardd2
should work out of the box without configuration. If it doesn't, there
is a bug, but the bug can only be diagnosed with information about the
autodetection process, not about some command line not working.
