Your debconf note is absolutely pointless, it only describes a feature available in a lot of packages and has nothing specific to the mped configuration. See http://www.debian.org/doc/developers-reference/ch-best-pkging-practices.en.html#s6.5.1 for recommandations if you really want to keep this note. IMO, it should simply be removed.
