This sounds like the spatialite_init() related segfaults (see #788101 &
#790224).
Can you confirm that the crash is caused by the deprecated
spatialite_init() method?
If you start qgis from a terminal you should see logging for this in the
terminal. You can also install the qgis-dbg package and run qgis via gdb
for more detailed information.
