Bernd, Thanks for trying out that change-- looks like it does what we want!

You _have to_ set up a proper global config file to use SpamAssassin. Repeating the same settings in spampd would make no sense, IMHO, and in fact would add more confusion. And, no offense, but, "unexperienced users" need to gain experience before setting up a mail server on the Internet anyway. >Here comes an idea I had while reading torugh the manpage: >- create a directory with a little config for spamassassin which first >includes the normal /etc/spamassassin files (and - don'tknow if neccessary - >configurethe right path for autolearn/bayes/....) >- tell spamassassin to use the config path from above Sorry but I fail to see how this would make anything simpler or easier. SA already parses the global config file automatically. What would be the "right path" for global autolearn/bayes db? Will it use a file DB or SQL? It will vary by system and system admin. That is why it exists as a configurable setting :-) Bottom line is that you need to have SpamAssassin installed and properly configured before using spampd. You can think of spampd as an alternative to spamd/spamc (which comes with SA), if that makes it any easier. Thanks again for testing the user_prefs fix, I'll include that in the next release.
