Package: debian-reference Version: 2.58 Severity: normal https://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/debian-reference/ch03.en.html#_stage_2_the_boot_loader
The Debian system normally uses the Linux kernel as the default system kernel. The initrd image for the current 2.6/3.x Linux kernel is technically the initramfs (initial RAM filesystem) image. The initramfs image is a gzipped cpio archive of files in the root filesystem. Not true any more.
