Hi Jon, thank you for offering your help. More brain cells working on the Maven upgrade would be welcome. Regarding the source level, it was changed to 1.5 in maven-compiler-plugin 2.3. Jessie was released with maven-compiler-plugin 2.5, so this should be fixed, but we aren't going to fix this for Wheezy.
