Thanks for your report. I'm aware of 1.6 and indeed I uploaded it first to experimental: https://tracker.debian.org/news/688284 The package enables the build explicitly only for the (yet) known architectures were criu works, basically what the previous maintainer enabled. PowerPC 64bit LE support was first introduced in 1.6, but I'm not yet sure if it is still considered experimental. If you can confirm that criu 1.6 on ppc64el works I can happily enable this as well on my next upload.
