After a bit of investigating, I found out the problem is related to this qt4 bug [1] (qt4 doesn't work with alsa). I talked with mnemosyne developer Peter Bienstam, you can find 3 .diff to work around the problem (just for mnemosyne, not for qt4) here [2].
