in preparation for the next ESR version I was taking a deeper look into
that issue while the last days. Locally I was able to "reactivate" a
Google search. A change to use default DuckDuckGo isn't very hard as
it's simply the *.xml file and a change to the
browser.search.defaultenginename needed.

To deactivate completely the search there would be more research needed
and I could live with a search by DuckDuckDo done by default.

I will prepare the needed things for the final version 38.0 of
Thunderbird.
