Hi, the RC bug #785627 did not received any response and according to its rdepends mayavi2 affects several packages in Debian science which should be hit by the same autoremoval.
There are other open bugs against mayavi2 which seem not hard to fix and it is lagging begin upstream. Do we want to starte a Debian Science effort to upgrade this package? (I'm personally not available for such thing for about four weeks - otherwise I would have done something myself.) We should check whether python-apps team has ACLs set to enable commits of non-team members. Otherwise it might be sensible to move the package to Debian Science Git.
