With hoichess 0.16.0 (see bug #786449) the book can be automatically generated from the gnuchess book source during the build process of hoichess.
For this, the gnuchess book source must be downloaded in advance with the provided script book/download-gnuchess-book. It could also be taken from the gnuchess source package. In this case the file book_1.02.pgn.gz must be unpacked and renamed in hoichess-book.pgn, as done by the mentioned script.
