I somewhat doubt that this is really a fix. When I reported the problem in the beginning, I've always had libpam-systemd installed.
At some later point I've also seen the problem occurring far less... but from time to time it still happens that I have a hanging connection. So I'd guess it's just coincidence that this improves things a bit. Cheers, Chris.
