1) and 3) could play nicely together.  I am happy to have an alternative
for login, we're already doing this for fakeroot.

About su, you would have to discuss this with the coreutils maintainer.
Right now, su is only installed into the coreutils .deb on hurd-i386, I
think it would make sense to have those as alternatives, but I don't
know about the differences between the two and whether this would be
feasable on GNU/Linux (and maybe he thinks it is not worth the troube).
