It should be supported in the configuration dialogs, too.
I just verified that "alsadev=plug:dmix" works, but it should actually
be default here, given my .asoundrc - when I choose "alsa" in my gnome
multimedia settings dmix is being used. I agree that linphone should
have a separate setting here - you might want to use e.g. usb headphones
or a handsfree device for doing calls, not your regular sound card - but
it should behave similar to these settings.
