If you build two kernels (different versions) without manually cleaning the tree, the second deb built will contain the modules from both versions. Please make the modules_image target depend on the clean target or have debian/tmp removed before each build. I talked to Manoj Srivastava about the issue and he believes the current behavior should be changed.
