Package: gpsd Version: 2.28-2 Severity: normal /etc/init.d/gpsd contains the command "chown $USER $PIDFILE", however $USER is neither defined there nor in /etc/default/gpsd. Thus, during boot up the following error shows and gps does not get started: Starting GPS daemon: gpsdchown: missing operand after `/var/run/gpsd.pid' Try `chown --help' for more information.
This does not show when manually invoking /etc/init.d/gpsd start lateron, as $USER is set in the environment anyway (though not to what it is supposed to be in this case...). elmar -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: powerpc (ppc) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.14-usbsleep Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages gpsd depends on: ii dbus-1 0.23.4-8 simple interprocess messaging syst ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.4.62 Debian configuration management sy ii libc6 2.3.5-8 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libgcc1 1:4.0.2-5 GCC support library ii libncurses5 5.5-1 Shared libraries for terminal hand ii libstdc++6 4.0.2-5 The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 ii netbase 4.23 Basic TCP/IP networking system Versions of packages gpsd recommends: ii gpsd-clients 2.28-2 clients for the GPS service daemon ii python 2.3.5-3 An interactive high-level object-o -- debconf information: * gpsd/start_daemon: true * gpsd/device: /dev/gps * gpsd/daemon_options: * gpsd/device_needed: -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
