Upstream has committed a patch [0] that may or may not fix the issue (he can't reproduce either). Would it be possible for you to test it (e.g. by adding the patch to the Debian source package)?
I've tried the patch on top of mpv_0.8.3-1. Unfortunately, the problem remains. :-(
If that doesn't work, could you also try to build the git master [1] and see if the problem is still there?
